Arjan Reesink extended the bedform project's reach by attending the 14th French Congress of Sedimentology in Paris, France from 5-7 November 2013.
In July 2013 at the 10th International Conference on Fluvial Sedimentology in Leeds, UK Arjan Reesink gave an oral presentation while Chris Unsworth presented a poster display.
On April 25 this website detailing the NERC funded project investigating the development of bedforms in unsteady flows was launched. The website aims to describe the research and serve as a gateway to the project results.
On April 15 both Arjan Reesink and Chris Unsworth presented early results from the first set of physical experiments at the Marine and River Dune Dynamics conference in Bruges, Belgium.
Members of the bedforms research team gathered at Durham Univeristy for a half-day meeting to discuss current progress and future directions. Plans for fieldwork on the Mississippi River were discussed as was the second set of physical experiments at the TFS at The Deep.
From October 10 to November 14 the team ran a series of successful modelling runs using the Total Environment Simulator at The Deep. The resulting data is now being analysed.
Four members of the bedforms project team make up the Chair, Deputy Chairs and Web designer for the forthcoming International Fluvial Sedimentology Conference on 14-19 July 2013. This event, held every four years, attracts over 300 geoscientists and sedimentologists to discuss progress in fieldwork and experimental and numerical modelling. The bedform team will be presenting results from the recent experimental programme.
